My work explores the process, merging the unfinished with impressionistic realism. The figure and portraits have always been my area of concentration, executed in oil and charcoal/graphite.I recall drawing portraits as a young child but into my teenage years, it came to a stop. In college, I met artist/illustrator Dan Dos Santos who ignited the spark once again. He is a major influence on who I am today as an artist. Artist Shawn Barber influenced more of the style I aim to instill in my work. Loose, drippy paint combined with more refined strokes with a sensitivity to color temperature is the foundation to my work. The subject matter isn’t always important to me, it’s more about the process and challenging myself to understand more every time I pick up a brush.
