Ken Tannenbaum’s long and diverse advertising career changed meaningfully in 2001 while living a few blocks from the World Trade Center with his family. Interest in personal work took on a greater part of his time, coupled with more weekends spent outside the city, eventually evolving the renovation of a farmhouse in Catskill, NY where he now resides. His interests are generally narrative in nature with an occasional nod to humor. The images are often inventions but can be born from serendipity.
“I often dwell on a theme called Commentary & Other Quandaries where images can sometimes be weeks in the making. At times I am the subject. I’m often surprised by the result and always grateful for my tripod. What assignation I make comes as I view a print when abstractions or planning become a tale worthy of the telling; it’s as if I’m seeing it for the very first time. It is most gratifying to see my images on public display, but what’s more so, is to hear what others’ are thinking. Interpretations may vary.”
