My work explores the process, merging the unfinished with impressionistic realism. The figure and portraits have always been my area of concentration, executed in oil and charcoal/graphite.I recall drawing portraits as a young child but into my teenage years it came to a stop. In college I met artist/illustrator Dan Dos Santos who ignited the spark once again. He is a major influence on who I am today as an artist. Artist Shawn Barber, influenced more of the style I aim to instill in my work. Loose, drippy paint combined with more refined strokes with a sensitivity to color temperature is the foundation to my work. Subject matter isn’t always important to me, its more about the process and challenging myself to understand more every time I pick up a brush.
